Deutscher Parfumpreis - Duftstars

Once a year the Fragrance Foundation Germany awards the "Deutscher Parfumpreis", similar to the example set by the American FiFi Awards. Just as the "Oscar" pays tribute to the great achievements in the film industry, the "Duftstars" are to highlight the accomplishments of the perfume industry. This much sought-after trophy has been awarded in Germany since 1993 and since then has triggered a number of initiatives that are to bring over the importance of perfume from a cultural point of view to the general public. The latest innovation has been to step back from the American name with the idea of being more clearly understood on the German market: so that the winners in 2006 will be called Duftstars - Fragrance Stars. At a glamorous gala that is considered to be "the" occasion for a get-together of the entire branch, the "Duftstars" awards will be given for the following categories: Best Haute Couture Perfume (Women and Men) Best Design of a Haute Couture Novelty (Women and Men) Best Perfume of a Prêt-à-porter Novelty (Women and Men) Best Haute Couture Classic (Women and Men) Public Award The trophies have been taken from the US. Pierre Dinand has designed two pillars out of crystal glass that "embrace" a drop (of perfume).
